The challenge that the coronavirus represents to us, to our family and to our friends finds us having to navigate through uncertainty, understandable anxiety and heightened risk. At some point though, hopefully sooner rather than later, the world will return to normal.

As we face this challenge, we know that God is faithful and always with us. Let us take time while we are not together in worship to be prayerful for each other and for the world.

SESSION UPDATE AMID COVID 19

The Session of Thomas Presbyterian Church has suspended all Sunday School, Worship and all other programs and activities at the church through April 30th. The  Session will  further review the situation at that time.

During this time, the church will undergo a deep cleaning focusing on areas that would present the most risk .

The Session also discussed how we are “the church” during these trying times.  In 1 Corinthians 3:16, Paul writes:  "Don't you know that you yourselves are God's temple and that God's Spirit dwells in your midst?" God's Spirit lives in each believer individually, but Paul says here that the Holy Spirit also occupies the collected believers known as the church.  In this way, we are the temple of God, even without a physical structure to meet in.

So as we go through this difficult time, let us be the feet and hands and heart of Christ as we reach out to  one another from our congregation and from our community.

The Elders and Deacons will be making regular contact with members of our church family and we invite you to do the same.

Children who are not in school could make cards to send to those in long-term care, those who are homebound or those who are ill or recovering from illnesses.

Contact elderly neighbors to see if they would like you to pick up groceries or even prescriptions for them.

Don’t forget families whose children received free lunches at school and may now need some help.

We invite you to look for ways to be the church. Ways we can serve one another and the Lord.  And we invite you to always be in prayer.

If anyone knows of someone in need of assistance  or if you are in need of assistance during this time, please contact the church office at 724-941-8910 or office@thomaspres.org

Glorifying God By Serving People

It is through worship, fellowship, and educational opportunities, that we grow in our knowledge and understanding of God's grace, mercy and love. Led by His love and by the example of his servant Son, Jesus, we seek to serve people in our church, in our community and in our world.  We want to glorify God in all that we do as we care for all of God's Creation. This is our mission.

Thomas Presbyterian Church

Thomas Presbyterian Church is located in Washington County, PA on Linden Road in Eighty Four in the midst of several communities. Our children come from a variety of school districts and our congregation spans all ages. We come from many backgrounds and have all types of jobs, careers, and vocations. We recognize that we are all at different places on the journey of faith. But, we are united in our love of Jesus Christ, devotion to the Word of God and service to people in His name locally and globally. Thomas Church is a wonderful mix of folks who want to be faithful to the God we worship, the Son we follow, and the Spirit that guides us.
